Happy Friday and cheers to the weekend. I hope your week was the best as it could be. This week has been a week where there was some media events and family time too. So what is there to do in Philly this potentially snowy weekend?
Praise Report and Health Scares
I encourage all people to go and see their doctors. If your doctor hasn’t seen you at all last year it’s time to make an appointment. Apart of self care is taking care of you. If you haven’t taken care of you by getting a check up, mammogram and more it’s time. All of the naps, bubble baths, and spa days mean nothing if your health is in jeopardy. When people say your health is your wealth it is true.
I am a sticker for getting all things checked. For the past 18 months I have had so many mammograms because I was being told they saw a few lumps. This week I went to a breast specialist and found out that I am in the clear and do not have breast cancer. Breast issues run in my family and it was something that has had me on edge for months. Getting that clear bill of health has made me smile from ear to ear. If you are the type that is telling yourself that what you don’t know won’t kill you, you are wrong. Please get checked.
Valentine’s Day Adventures
My husband and I will celebrate 12 years of marriage this summer. We love celebrating holidays and special days that mean the world to us. If there is something to celebrate, we are the first to do just that. Keep in mind that we have 3 kids and I am not a fan of going out on Valentine’s Day. I am more laid back but do love a good bouquet of flowers and candy. This year we went to Hook and Reel to visit with Hardy Funnel Cake. Now I am clear that I probably won’t necessarily eat at Hook and Reel because it was too busy for me. However our experience with Hardy Funnel Cakes was amazing. Rodney the business owner was exemplary.
The funnel cakes were delicious and the customer service was excellent. In addition there was something about his story in how he got started that reminded me of my friend Charisse McGill that recently passed. I’ve been feeling as if I get little messages from her in various ways. If you are in the philadelphia area make sure to stop at Hook and Reel on Wednesdays for some amazing funnel cakes. My husband and I ended our night with take out from Panda Express and Chipotle, a little Twisted Tea and we fell asleep on the couch with Netflix watching us. A perfect night for us

Self Care for the Weekend
Our youngest will be the double digits and we can’t wait to celebrate her. We look forward to sharing in her joy as she’s been counting us down for days now. Either way there is snow on the horizon so a few things like organizing my home office and decluttering the kids play area is on my list. This sounds like work and to some extent it is. For me personally, organizing is my thing. So being able to declutter helps with my mental health as well.
I have a spa day coming up this week that had to be rescheduled. The plan is to be at the spa for hours. I can’t wait. This weekend I set out 2 books to read. One of them is Tabitha brown’s newest one, I did a new thing. Since the kids will be indoors for a little I suggest always keeping a few indoor items on hand.
Conversations with Toi Friday Podcast Drop
This week’s episode I am covering what is no contact. In addition how no contact goes along with the story that has been shared online with Comedian, Mo’Nique and her son. It’s important to understand that not everyone has a cookie cutter relationship with their mom. If you find that you don’t count your blessings. Also let’s get into the habit of not telling people how to respond to neglect and disrespectful behavior. Comments of “that’s still your mom” may be true in theory but doesn’t negate eliminating her from your life and world.
