Happy Friday and cheers to the weekend. I hope your week went extremely well. Today is a great day here in Philadelphia. This weekend has so much fun in store. This week has been such a great one with balance, media events, and time with friends. Here is a recap of what went down this week and some things to look forward to for the weekend.
Nipotina: New Sandwich Shop
There is a new sandwich shop in South Philly called Nipotina. It is an amazing shop that has sandwiches for everyone. From gluten-free and vegan. What I loved about the shop, is that it’s family owned. The shop was 5 years in the making. Nipotina means granddaughter. I love how Marlo, owner of Nipotina is an amazing woman, mother of 7, and more. So I am proud of her and her family’s accomplishments. The sandwich I had was called Imposter. It’s a vegan cheesesteak. The cheese on the sandwich was so melty. Anyone who has ever eaten vegan cheese knows the issue of it melting and melting well, is few in-between.
They also have salads too for those who doesn’t like sandwiches. I like the amount of sandwiches that they have. There is something for everyone. The locations is 2238 S. 21 street, Philadelphia PA 19145.

Friday Conversations with Toi Episode
This Friday’s episode is all about Black Maternal Health. I speak candidly about the times where doctors and nurses failed me and had my health in jeopardy. Many Black women are more at risk to passing away from childbirth or from complications of childbirth. As always, with all podcasts that I feel may be a trigger-this is a trigger warning. Not every woman wants to have children. It doesn’t make the decision any less. I want Black women to be heard, respected, believed and to be well.
I appreciate for those listening to share this episode. It’s Black Maternal Health week. This is the week that we focus on the reality that it exists. In addition to find ways to support Black women so that they can birth their children and make it home to enjoy them.
Evil Dead Rise Friday Preview
There is a new movie coming next Friday and it’s called Evil Dead Rise. From the visionary producers of the original classic comes EVIL DEAD RISE, a return to the iconic horror franchise that started with 1981’s THE EVIL DEAD. Moving the action from a cabin in the woods into the city, EVIL DEAD RISE tells the tale of two sisters, whose reunion is cut short by the rise of flesh-possessing demons. When are people going to learn you never want to read anything out loud from the Book of the Dead? EVIL DEAD RISE hits theaters nationwide on April 21, distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.
We went and enjoyed a cocktail class at City Winery along with dinner. It was great. I had such a great time. We made a Bloody Mary, Blood Orange Margarita, and a Brain Hemorrhage shot. It was a bloody good night. So don’t worry I will remind you next Friday on the blog that the movie is out.
