Cork and Candles

Happy Friday! In lieu of a Friday recap is the candle making experience at Cork and Candles. I tried the Candle of the Month Class and I loved it.

Before you go to Cork and Candles

Walk ins are welcomed if the space is a available. Reservations are encouraged. You do not need to have prior candle making experience at all. The staff will guide you through the process. Come about 20 minutes before your scheduled time. Parking is available around the store but depending on when you go you will need time. It’s BYOB of beer, wine, or seltzer. They do have light bites to purchase but please don’t bring in food. This activity can be done with friends/family or even as a solo activity.

Green Beer Candle

This is the candle of the month. If you like beer or not it actually works for all. The pairings of the scents can be made to your liking. You can opt out of the beer scent and mix simply an alternative scent. The scent I made was close to Angry Orchards but with a sweet smell to it. The process involves mixing of wax and resin as well as we whipped up some fun with the beer foam. Do not eat the whip. You will need a calculator which most have on their phone to get the ratio of scent right. Again it was super easy and staff is there to help. Book this under Candle of the Month class.

Atmosphere in Cork and Candles

IT’s everything you would expect. Depending on when you go it can be quiet or loud if there are tables of people with more candle makers at it. We went on a Wednesday at 6pm. We left at around 8. The class usually takes about an hour and half from start to finish. The rest of the time we spent eating and having an actual beer together. Since I’ve gone now twice I can say that the staff no matter who you get are going to give the best customer experience.

Candle Bar Experience

I visited last October with friends and we loved the Candle Bar Experience. You choose 4 scents to make 2 candles. The staff shows you how to measure and pour. You make your candle and choose the vessel it goes into. The only issue with the Candle Bar Experience is choosing your scents. They have the scents in categories from Floral, Sweet and more. Also they have seasonal scents as well. When we went they had cider available for the Fall.

Host a Party

During our visit the party room or the room that holds larger groups was empty. However when I went to visit the last time there were over 20 people celebrating a bachelorette. So if you are celebrating something consider making it into a candle party. The room is beautiful and spacious.

Elle of Sip on What

Cork and Candles is a great place to unwind and allow creativity to take over. I enjoyed myself with Elle of Sip on What. In addition when you leave you are surrounded by amazing restaurants like one of my favorites, Pizzeria Vetri. Cork and Candles hosted us and it was the best way to break up a week and relax. So now the question isn’t if there is a candle making bar its when are you going. Becky our Candle Expert was hands down welcoming, warm, and a joy to be around.

In addition I always find myself leading people to talk about their job experiences. It’s important to me if I know how owners treat employees. Becky spoke highly of working there. I asked about how her days are working and she stated how much coming to work doesn’t feel like work. I love to hear that. Thank you to the staff of Cork and Candles as well as the owners for such a hospitable time.
