Cirque Dreams Holidaze is happening now at the Kimmel Cultural Campus. From the dazzle of music, to contortionists and more this show is family friendly and a great way to end the year at a live show. If you love to get out and support the arts, this is a great way to do so. It takes a spin on circus art and storybook characters.
Before you go see Cirque Dreams Holidaze
Remember that this show is happening now until December 31st. It mixes various holiday elements in the most dazzling way. Get to the show at least 30 minutes ahead. This will allow you to grab snacks, go to the bathroom and more before the show especially if you are taking a younger crowd. In addition, there are many daytime shows that are available for younger audiences to avoid the night rush. The show is about 90 minutes with an intermission. There are no trinkets to buy so for parents who are trying to take a break from purchasing things in the wake of the holidays this is great news. There are a lot of lights as well as acrobatic performances.
Favorite Portion of the show
It was a solid performance, but the second part of the show took off for me. Not only was I was asked to be a part of the show, but the stunts got even more crazier. There is audience participation that includes the performers coming into the crowd to select about 4-5 people to help after intermission. Obviously not everyone will be selected. It is a simple ringing of the bells that is done while paying close attention to the performer’s commands.
My girl Elle and I were selected. We had a blast. The bell was heavy but not anything that wasn’t doable.
Recommendations for Children
According to the Kimmel website the show is recommended for ages 5 and up. I agree. The show isn’t long, nor did it feel like it was long or overwhelming. The issue with the show for a younger crowd is that smaller kids may not want or can sit that long and enjoy it without incident. There is a lot of movement all over the stage that a younger child may become more overwhelmed. The show for ages 5 and up will enjoy the things that they see. So, keep that in mind before booking.
Holidaze Show Review
I loved the show. The kids didn’t get a chance to see it so I will be changing that. I know they will be wowed by everything. Another part of the show that I really enjoyed and loved was the trapeze performers. I think because it defies gravity, I really enjoyed what they were able to do. There were several times when I gasped in awe. As always especially if you take kids remind them that they are not able to do the same at home. I think most left the show with smiles and laughs. Again, I can’t preface enough the fact that this show is all about lights, performances, and more.
