Happy Wine Down Wednesday. I am fully aware that today is National Margarita Day. To see where to get margaritas in Philadelphia, go to my Facebook page. In the meantime let’s get into Cardinal Hollow Winery. Wine is one of my first loves so anytime I can to a new experience I will. This is located about less than an hour outside of Philadelphia. I am always encouraging others to take trips outside of the city and experience new things. So what is your must know before you go, eclectic wine flavor offerings and more.
Getting to Cardinal Hollow Winery
It’s about less than an hour from Philadelphia and may be less depending on where in the city you leave. If you travel on 476 use your GPS and elect to go the way without the use of tolls. I took both ways to see if one was more direct than the other. I found them to be about the same. So if you are looking to save the tolls than go by avoiding the tools. Once there, Boyd’s has plenty of parking. As always do not drink or drive. Bring a designated driver and Boyd’s has plenty of non alcoholic options including non alcoholic beer to try.
Eclectic Wine Offerings
Cardinal Hollow Winery has a great selection of wines. What I found that sets them apart is their selection of wines you will not get at any other winery. For instance they have a Roasted Pepper and Garlic wine. Yes it taste as it sounds but not in the way you would think. When you smell the Roasted Pepper and taste the Garlic there is no weird after taste. Trust me I anticipated it but it wasn’t there. They also have a Jalapeño wine flavor. One is spicy and one is not. You have never heard of such wine offerings. Owner Christopher definitely blew my mind. I promise all of those wine offerings weren’t on my 2023 card list. Christopher has a knack for seeing a flavor and being willing to make it happen. In the end I must admit he strikes gold everytime. Don’t forget to try the Agave (Tequila) and the Whiskey Mead.
More than Wine Offerings
There are selections of cheeses and meats that the winery makes as well. You are going to be able to enjoy select food while there. Whether you are there for a pairing such as a cupcake pairing or even the infamous Girl Scout wine and beer pairings you won’t go hungry. Boyd’s has a lot of events. They have a make your own welcome sign or even doormat making event. They offer space for weddings, showers, and other events including painting parties and comedy shows. Also if you are looking to host your next corporate event they can offer that as well.
Don’t worry the wine is still a main attraction. They offer wine slushies as well as mimosas too. However if you aren’t a wine drinker or bring a non wine drinker there are amazing cocktails, spirits, beers, and frozen drinks to accommodate anyone in your party. Not to mention amazing bottles of wine to take home.
Tiki Bar and Offerings
When you pull up to park you will notice the door for the wine tasting room as well as the Tiki Bar. This outside space is great to come and have wine, enjoy jerk chicken and other Tiki bar related food. If you know anything about me you should know that I love to eat al fresco. So when it gets warmer, grab your friends and make a trip for food and drinks.
Day Trip/Visit to Boyd’s and Self Care
Philadelphia is home to a lot of amazing restaurants and other dining options. Maybe it’s the small town in me but nothing beats switching up your environment. One of the best forms of driving that I learned as a kid from my parents was taking a day trip. Trust me the price in these airline tickets is why so many people no longer mind taking a drive to a destination. As kid my parents always took drives to places they have never been. My parents now currently drive almost 2 hours to a grocery store and make a day of it.
Driving especially if you love wine to a winery is a great way to incorporate the love of wine with a little clearing of your head. While driving to Cardinal Winery I enjoyed my music, and just that alone time. Even if I had been with friends that one hour time is a great way to catch up. Traveling to a winery always is a lot of fun. The wine is a great way to try new bottles and offerings to add to your collection. If you are only stuck on the wine that you get from your grocery store you haven’t touched the tip of the wine life. Also to note I was greeted well.
Great Treatment at Cardinal Winery
I tend to travel to a lot of wineries and experiences but the way people treat you before they know who you are says a lot about them. Christopher is knowledgeable about wine and other alcohol. I learned a lot while there and the open reception was pleasant and appreciated. Will I return? Hands down I will be back and bringing a few friends with me next time. Thank you to Visit Valley Forge, Bryan of Bryan Buttler Media Relations, and Christopher Boyd, Owner of Cardinal Winery for having me. Make sure you follow them on Facebook and Instagram.
Cardinal Winery is located at 1830 W. Point Pike, West Point, PA 19486. Pricing is extremely reasonable so make sure you tip your servers well. Wine tasting is more in a relaxed atmosphere as well.
