Bloody Mary’s is such a bold drink. It’s full of flavor. However Bloody Mary’s can be topped to look super extravagant. Today I had the honor to attend the preview of the Monster Mash Bloody Mary competition held in Northern Liberties.
50% Capacity
Philadelphia is only allowing dining indoors to be at 50%. This means that outdoor dining is still an option. As it gets colder many will want to opt to eating indoors. This means that restaurants will decrease their already hurting revenue. The initiative to push “Sweater Weather Philly” is to encourage patrons to continue to eat outside so that with the 50% capacity it will help restaurant owners and workers reach a higher earning potential. Grab a sweater, flannel, or hoodie and enjoy the outdoors for as long as you possibly can! This is really keeping some of the most beloved restaurants in the green and open! Also keep in mind, tip your waiters and waitresses well whenever you’re out!
Monster Mash
On October 10, Northern Liberties Business Improvement is bringing a little spooky fun with part food, part Bloody Mary’s, and part competition. That’s right you will be able to try a variety of food and Bloody Mary’s from participating Northern Liberties! The list is extensive trust me! I personally had a hard time picking. I decided to go with Germantown Garden Grill. My reasonings was clear I hadn’t been before and I wanted to see how Vesper Day Club turned their infamous adult pool extravaganza and turned it into an eatery!
Germantown Garden Grill
This is an absolutely stunning venue. Below Germantown Garden and although connected and operated by the same owners there is a different vibe!
For Germantown Garden, it’s more of a causal chic spot. It’s comfy cute. Absolutely beautiful, I loved this sign it was a word!
During brunch you can get brunch that is mostly served upstairs or you can order small bites, shareables and comfort food. It’s like having the best of both worlds. The drinks are good as well! I had this one it’s called the Smashley! It’s made with bourbon, mint, strawberry and nectarine!
Germantown Garden Grill
Now for me the Germantown Garden Grill is more of an adult vibe. It’s beautiful with the pool as a great vocal point. The DJ was spinning music and birthday parties being celebrated all around. This is in my humblest opinion a spot that I would leave the kids out or take them downstairs if I had to bring them. Even my kids who range in ages 11, 9, and 6 wouldn’t be in here. Nothing crazy is going on but adults enjoying the Hell out of a good brunch experience. If you’re looking for a great adult only brunch that has the party vibes and socially distanced; this is your spot!
Bloody Mary and a Bite
So the whole reason outside of making sure we do all we can to support amazing restaurants is for the competition. This Bloody Mary was so good to me! It had a burger slider on top. It had blue cheese stuffed olives, and chipotle aioli. First bite was mesmerizing even before I got to the actual Bloody Mary! Now disclaimer I normally don’t drink Bloody Mary because the tomato drink. However I have to keep it real, I would drink Germantown Garden Grill’s any day! I’ve never had one that tasted so good that made me want more until today! The lemon helped to make it a super tasting drink!
Origin of The Bloody Mary Drink
It was originally called the Red Snapper. It was believed to be named after Queen Mary Tudor and her “bloody” reign over England in the 16th century! Later Fernand “Pete” Petiot made a version of it in Paris at a bar! Either way it’s been tweaked to taste for years! Now in addition to the drink, many like Germantown add their own spin. Thus the Monster Mash competition is just heating up. Brunch is life and brunch’n for fun and with a purpose is always a great thing! The burger is from Tiny’s Burger Joint! Check them out as well!
Let’s Eat
So of course what’s a brunch without food?! I had Huevos Rancheros. Man oh man it was delicious. Made with chorizo, black bean, fresh salsa, and fried egg served with a side of home potatoes! It’s amazing!
Always Room for Dessert
Desserts should be everything fun! You can see on my stories on Instagram the fun as it unfolded. I for the Oreo Cheesecake. Not too sweet it was absolute perfection!
My girl Elle had the Rainbow Birthday cake! Absolutely good! I mean each beautiful layer was too good not to eat but someone had to do it!
Germantown Garden Grill owes me nothing. I can’t express enough to tip your waiter and waitress well during this time. I’m usually a 20% tipper and now I’m moving more at a 25% tipper. Our waitress Oli was an absolute delight. Listen outside of blogs I’ve gone to a few spots that get it wrong-bad food, and bad service but when you find great places, make sure you take care of those who take care or you. In addition all safety protocols are in place; make sure you have your mask, social distance, and have a great time.
So you got about a week! You can attend the Monster Mash at various participating restaurants in Northern Liberties! For more info see here!
Germantown Garden Grill is located inside of Vesper Day Club at 1031 Germantown Avenue!
Thank you Northern Liberties, Germantown Garden Grill, and Aversa PR! I hope you beat out the competition! So make sure you get out on October 10th!
