Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

Jennifer Byrne and Timothy Goodwin a real life couple play in Abby Rosebrock’s Single in Agriculture. It was in so many ways one part Christian Mingles, one part Farmers Only meet, and all parts funny. I laughed so hard at the awkwardness in how the two interacted. This is a must see. As much as I’m reviewing it, watching it for yourself makes more sense. Trust me! Here’s my review without spoiling it. Thank you Bristol for having me.

Awkward Dating

As a Preacher’s Kid aka a PK I could relate to this couple. In my early 20s coming from an isolated church where to be honest I was so removed from reality. Everything and I mean everything was a sin, the Devil, or the Devil’s fault. Wearing a dress above the knee was wrong. If I wore pants that was wrong. Let’s talk about dating. If dating even was allowed it had to be with others, no hand holding, and no kissing. I’m a rebel so I broke all of the rules. It made sense when Joel played by Timothy had all of these preconceived notions of what he felt was wrong. Let’s also remind you he was still there at the Singles Agriculture convention well because as a you will see …he was curious! Curiosity will at best supersede religious hesitations.

Goats Please

I was taken back but still laughing when Priscilla played by Jennifer seemed to talk to or channel her conversation with her Pygmy goats. Yes you read that correctly, goats. It was hilarious. At first I was like this is exactly what you would expect from an outside perspective of want I would think happens at the Farmers Only dating site. So I need you to come into this production with no preconceived thoughts because even when you think you know, you don’t! The conversations kept going left. It started off with Priscilla’s love of Modern Family to goats, sex, and religion-it’s a whirlwind!

Bristol’s Flow of Show

I have to say for an online production I liked the set up! It wasn’t in a Zoom format. So kudos to Bristol Riverside Theatre for having a different look and feel. Jennifer and Timothy flow so well together. It makes sense they are in a relationship together in real life. They have amazing although intentionally awkward chemistry together. It worked well for them. I enjoyed that feeling of being able to sit back and simply enjoy this play.

Overall Bristol Riverside Theatre as well as Abby Rosebrock definitely have a hit on their hands. It was directed by Amy Kaissar. It gave real life conversations on being secluded during a pandemic without mentioning it. This play is not suitable for young children at all. There are scenes that hint at violence, suicide conversations, and is layered with sexual suggestions. The show is airing until Saturday January 30th. You only need one link per household. This show is performed in real time. So when you select your tickets make sure your available to watch. Be prepared to laugh and to be caught off guard throughout the ENTIRE show!

So you’re gonna want to know if the two hit it off or actually has sex….watch it and find out!
