Have you ever been to Blondie in Manayunk? If not I need you to add them to the top of your brunch list. I have been there for events so it was nice to dine for brunch to get a sense of what it is like in real time. Let me report that their brunch, hospitality, and more is worthy of a visit.
Before you go to Blondie
If you have been following this blog for awhile you know I like to give a before you go look into these recommended places. If you are going to go during the weekend it is highly suggested that you make reservations. While I was there with my fellow foodie friend, Elle of Siponwhat, we saw many people in there enjoying their dining experiences. From towers of drinks to flights of mimosas trust me it’s a full on experience. My first impression of Blondie when I first went a few years ago is due to them being a cocktail bar, they do not miss. Not one time have I ever had to send a cocktail back. They do have a great mocktail listing too. So not drinking doesn’t have to be boring either.
With your reservation ready you are going to be ready for a great time. So what about Blondie makes them stand out?
Why Blondie?
Blondie is about 15 minutes outside of Philadelphia nestled in Manayunk. Located on Main Street it is not hard to find. Parking is easy too. Although they do not have their own parking lot, there are plenty around them. I went around the block about one and still found parking that was only seconds away. Before I came in as I waited for my girl, Elle, I watched how they were brunchers. From the family that wasn’t sure if they wanted to dine. I observed a server take such care with them by providing them a menu for them to look at as they decided. I watched as those who dined outdoors were handled. As I stepped in it was busy. However one of my first tests is before I say my name. The manager on duty made contact with me letting me now he would be right with me.
None of that see me and ignore me that I am sure we all have experienced at a restaurant. I knew brunch was going to go well. I am a stickler on customer service.
Brunch Cocktails
Blondie has a great selection of cocktails. Like I said they are amazing in every way. For the first set of cocktails we had the Water Lilly. It is made with Vodka, elderflower, watermelon juice, sake, lime. The other was the Smoke Show. It is made with Mezcal, Aperol, spiced coconut syrup, lime, pineapple, cinnamon sugar rim. In this one, the Mezcal is the star of that drink. So if you like Mezcal this is one for you.
The other cocktails that we had were the Part Time Lover made with tequila, aperol, elderflower, lemon. Lastly the Key West. This is a Key Lime pie in a cup but made perfectly. This is definitely one that is on their seasonal cocktail list that should never leave. It is made with vanilla vodka, lime, spiced coconut syrup, lime zest, graham cracker rim.
As always they have a great mocktail listing. With all alcoholic drinks-drink responsibly.
Let’s Eat with Blondie
You didn’t come to brunch for just cocktails. Blondie’s extensive brunch menus is perfection. One of the things that I love about their menu is that they have it sectioned by your likes. For instance the sweets are together and the savory. It is well done menu and props to the chef. We had the Blondie Burrito. It has short rib, veggies, loaded with cheese and other savory items. This is a new item and it was well received.
The other item we had was the Peaches and Cream French Toast. When I was a kid I got sick off of some horrible french toast. It took me stepping into the Foodie world to like them. However although I will entertain French toast I judge it the most harshly. I can attest that this French toast is hands down some of the best that I have had. It gets my two thumbs up. We left nothing on our plates.
Sweet Things come to end
So to not allow our time to end we ended our dining experience with some Beignets. They were topped with powdered sugar and served with some delicious warm blueberry compote. It was heaven. It doesn’t matter if you are full. Get them.
