If you have never been to a BlogHer conference you are doing yourself a disjustice. There are so much that you can take away from the conferences. It’s up to you what you take from it. Here are some of the highlights from the BlogHer Health that resonated with me.
BlogHer Before you Go
Like with any conference, be clear on your goals. You are going to meet celebrities at these events. There are so many Bloggers, Influencers, and Creators. I always set a goal for me being there. For instance, when i first went to my first BlogHer my goal was to travel to New York on my own and set aside my social anxiety. Not only did I do that, but I won my first trip to BlogHer Health in LA. This was a few years ago. I have been in attendance ever since. I am now also a SheMedia partner. This means that I have the backing of SheMedia and BlogHer to help me scale my blog and more.
BlogHer Health 22
There was a lot to take in. With health they cover all aspects of health. I will cover mental health in a separate blog for a sponsored blog in a week. Taking care of ourselves especially when you are attempting to accomplish goals From getting up early and staying up late finding a balance on wellness is no easy task. So what did we learn and who did we learn it from?
Dynavax Technologies
Did you know that adults 19-59 need another dose of Hepatitis B? I wasn’t aware. I know that my kids have had theirs but now it’s recommended that we too need a 2 dose interval in a month’s time. I wasn’t aware until I got there. We know that Hepatitis is 100X times more infectious than HIV. 15% of Cirrhosis is caused by Hepatitis. So getting that protection is crucial. Had I not gone, to be honest my next appointment to my doctor won’t be until next year. So I am doing my part letting you know. Thanks for Dynavax for keeping us informed. With all things make the best decision for your health and healthcare. Also the reps were amazing. One not only did they tell us about the Heplisav-B shot, but they also provided Pressed drinks for wellness.
BlogHer and Our Mindset
One thing about me is if there is a conference I am going to sit in the front. There are two reasons. Not as much now with BlogHer because I feel comfortable. However I deal with social anxiety. I like to stick myself in the fire. Right in the front I am able to just adjust. I had never heard of Tai Beauchamp but her energy was what I needed to settle in. My word for the day was collaboration. We were asked to choose a word and set our intentions. I loved that. Again BlogHer always starts off with the fire. Tai was just a ball of love, energy, and mindfulness. I loved it.
Janel Stewart
So if you are also not familiar with the Jane Club you were in for a treat. The ability to journal the things that we needed. I love to journal. Journaling is a form of self care. Choosing words that resonated with us. The Jane Club is online community platform that support women in their wholeness. I plan to thankfully become apart since BlogHer gifted us a 30 day membership. One thing I loved about Janel was her ability to let us know that although she was in the front, she was struggling with her confidence. Like many of us who have to show up for our brands, being in the forefront is scary. However like we all learn, we show up and crush our goals.
Christina Milian
We all know her from the movie “Love don’t cost a thing” as well as her “Dip it Low” singing days as well. Christina Milian is more than an actress or singer. As a Wife and Mother, she is a force to be reckoned with. Her ability to adapt in the business world is outstanding. Christina talked about her failures. A lot of people love to shy away from speaking up regarding the many times she has failed. Failure is apart of the road to success.
Her ability to speak about the highs and lows was refreshing. She is a sweetheart in real life. I got the opportunity to chat with her. Her mother was there and she is amazing too. I loved how she also brought her Beignet Box business. Sadly I needed time to calm my nerves/anxiety and missed my opportunity to eat it. Insert super sad vibes. However reminded me that we are all trying to find our way. Taking my creative path will come with many successes. Learning to develop a team that highlight their strengths is important.
Hydration Station with Spindrift and BlogHer
Shout out Spindrift for providing us hydration all day. I am talking about refreshing waters that are delicious. Their sparkling water made with real squeezed fruit was just what I needed. I have heard of Spindrift before. When I am shopping at Whole Foods and Target I have seen them. I’m not sure as to why I hadn’t tried it before but that was an epic fail on my part. Sparkling water that is this good without a whole lot of fizz is what I love. During the BlogHer Health, their stations were amazing. Vibrant, full of fruit, as well as having a rep that used a bubble gun to make the most epic bubble for our drinks were so nice.
So will I get more? Absolutely I love to drink it and I also know you can use this in some epic drinks too for when you are entertaining too so I look forward to that as well.
Stay tuned for Part 2 and if you need a visual recap you can watch the encore online.
