Diner en Blanc is coming to Philadelphia on August 10, 2023. There will be heat, walking, food, and fun. However, there are a few things to keep in context so that you make the best of your time. From what to bring and ideals to what to wear and more here’s your before you go to Diner en Blanc guide to a fun time.
Tickets are now closed for Diner en Blanc
If you are going you will have your tickets by now. The tickets sold out. From what I have interviewed a few people the system closed people out. The key is to go back into its multiple times to secure tickets. There was a high demand for tickets, and I am sure that will show case itself on the day with the sea of beautiful people in their white. So, for next year, get in as soon as you can, pay attention to your email, and keep trying.
What to wear for Diner en Blanc
White is the color of the evening. All white is what you need to be prepared to wear. White is hard to wear as far as keeping it clean and more. However white is the color of the dinner so get it clean and ready. You want to be cute and comfortable. Wear what you feel good in. From dresses, nice pants, and more be clear that you feel amazing in it. Keep heat as a factor as well. It’s held on August 10th. There is no need to pretend that heat won’t be a factor.
Shoes are another thing to keep in mind. Think comfort. You won’t know where to go until its time to convene. So, make sure your shoes are walkable and won’t fail you. When I went a few years ago I had a pair of heels and an all-white dress sneaker. This also was I had exclusive trolley and I wasn’t walking. This year I will have a cute flat shoe or elevated wedge that is comfortable to be in for the entire night.
Little Optional Trinkets to have for Diner en Blanc
These items are not necessary but are nice to have for the evening:
- White ponchos
- Large mesh white beach bag-helps with carrying items beyond the table gear
- White Fan both electronic and handheld
- Clear or all white umbrella
- White head piece or hat for both men and women
- White sunglasses
- Bug spray/cream
- Sunblock
- Clorox stick
- Wipes
Food for Diner en Blanc
You oversee bringing your own food for you and your date. Make sure that whatever you bring can withstand the heat. Some people do bring some ice but remember it’s all about minimizing what you carry. I highly suggest you ordering food that is premade. This way you are limiting the food you must get ready to be displayed. Grocery stores also have premade charcuterie boards if you do not want to have to precut and measure things as well. Don’t forget your bottle of wine or champagne to enjoy.
Tables Matter for Diner en Blanc
The premise is the table and the items on it must be all white. You can select items from the Diner en Blanc online store for members or Amazon. White is the only color scheme you want to follow. Think about things to keep food semi covered, white or clear containers to store wine and drinks, tablecloths and more. There are a few things that you can do as well when it comes to increasing a beautifully decorated table, is to go all out. Word of advice you will have to transport the items to the location so make sure that you are prepared to bring, set up, and take down the items that you bring.
Optional Items that you may need:
- Tea lights-battery operated
- Feathers for table displays
- Ice chilled party platter to keep food cold and completely collapsible
- Pop up food covers
- LED optic centerpieces-white only
- Tablecloth clips-make the tablecloth tight and taut
- White glasses preferably plastic
- White wine opener or a gold one would work too
- Do not forget to bring portable chargers and charging cords. There is no and I mean nowhere to charge your phone and electronics. This is necessary to have so you don’t have an interruption to taking pictures and more.
Key Things to Consider for Diner en Blanc
Limit your makeup for the night. Keep in mind the minute you touch your face from the heat and more can transfer to your outfit. So, unless it’s truly non transferrable do not use too much. In addition, I would suggest a tinted moisturizer and do not forget your sunblock. Some people also bring their blotting paper too instead of using their hands or cloth to keep the skin at its best during the night.
Being Overwhelmed with the Details
Once you know what you are wearing and what you are bringing, take a deep breath. The day will be rushed. However, take a deep breath and enjoy the fun. The hardest part will be getting to the secret location and getting set up. All the others around you will be in the same position. Once all the formality is over, trust me that many will be ready to enjoy their food, drink their wine, and have an enjoyable time. It’s okay to simply take it all in. You will have many memories to create. You will meet new people as well because it’s a fun inviting event.
So, I will be covering the event and will be around from table to table, so I hope to see you. When you see me say hi, I promise to be as social as ever and even snap a picture or two. Who knows you may be on my recap video.
