Beetlejuice! Say the name-Beetlejuice! Beetlejuice is now at the Kimmel Cultural Campus now until June 11th. Tickets are available now and in addition you aren’t going to want to miss this event. As always, I will break down your before you go, what to expect, and more.

Beetlejuice

Before you go and see Beetlejuice

It is playing at the Academy of Music. There are 3 bars so normally at the Miller I would advise you to get to the Kimmel a little over 30 minutes you can arrive at least 30 this time. This will give you time to get merchandise, find your seats, and head to the bar before the show starts. The show in my opinion is not suitable for anyone under the age of 14. There are a lot of mature themes as well as strong language. Make the best decision for you and your family but do not be surprised at the material as it is suggestive at times. The show runs about 2 hours and 15 minutes with a 15-minute intermission. It is a musical so expect amazing singing and performance numbers. There is also the use of bright lights, and heavier than usual strobe lights.

 Beetlejuice

The merchandise as you would expect from this musical is amazing. From shirts to cups and pins and all things in between there is something for everyone. The signature drink is called Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice and it is made of Scotch, orange juice, sweet vermouth and grenadine and topped with a gummy worm if you get it at Volver. In the show there is no gummi worm as they are encouraging you to keep the top on the Kimmel cup. If you have a cup from past performances bring it with you to save money on your order.

Outstanding Performance in Beetlejuice

There is no shortage of amazing acting that takes place in Beetlejuice at all. From the opening number to the closing curtain, you will experience a flow of nostalgia. If you have seen the original, there are a lot of similarities as well as welcomed changes too. You don’t have to see the original to enjoy the show however for those like me who saw it in their younger days you will beam with smiles. Justin Collette is an exploration of lunatic joy. His depiction as Beetlejuice is hands down amazing. He brings a ray of attitude, talent, and comedic timing that is necessary to pull off the character.

Each character was dynamic. From Lydia played by Isabella Esler to Britney Coleman as Barbara and Will Burton as Adam. I was enamored by each of their interactions with one another in addition to the set.

Compliments to the Production Design and Staff

There are elements to the set that take on their own personality in the original. For instance, the sand worm and certain aspects of the costumes. Beetlejuice had each piece of nostalgia properly in its place. The set was as colorful as I had imagined. Every color was properly placed and thoroughly engaging. The entire show is a smash hit. If this is someone’s first musical, you picked a good one. You don’t realize that time is passing because you are engaged with the show and Justin doesn’t simply act; he engulfs you.

Is it worth the hype that has been surrounding the show? Absolutely you will not be disappointed. The show is only here until June 11th so do not wait to get your tickets I. Grab your tribe and enjoy the show because “it’s show time!” Thank you to the Kimmel Cultural Center as well as Allied Global Marketing for having me. Make sure that you check out the June activities that the Kimmel Cultural Center is having as well.
