If you are thinking of looking for something fun to do in Philadelphia, then Beat the Bomb is your spot. It’s good for the whole family and is a time of your life. Some parts easy while some parts challenging, prepare for you and your crew to work together to complete the tasks. At the end you pick if you will be doing the slime, foam, or paintball fun. Either way it’s a wave of emotions and sure to be a great memory unlocked.
What to know before you go
I highly suggest that you get your tickets early. Trying to get them when you get there could run the risk of them being full. Select the group size before you go. When you are there, you will of course need to sign a waiver. My pro-tip is that you do it for you and have the people in your party do it before you come. Once the waivers are accounted for, you will be given a wristband. This is how you are tracked in the game. Don’t get nervous. It’s all about helping to calculate if you are completing each task as asked. Take the friends that you enjoy being in a challenging but fun environment. Leave the Debbie downers at home for this one.
Once inside you can either start ordering food and drinks while you wait your turn to play. Let the Beat the Bomb attendants help you from there.
Food and Drinks at Beat the Bomb
There are many times when you go to these type of game areas where the food is mediocre. This is not one of those places. The food is delicious. Drinks are amazing too. They do an excellent job of making sure nothing is watered down. However, I would caution to limit your drinks to two before your game. You are going to want to have all your wits for the time that is expected to be had. Make sure that you tip your servers and bartenders.
The Games
I can’t tell you how I enjoyed the games. They make you think outside of the box. It’s not your household board games. So come with an open mind. We had a group of six and it was more than enough. Half of the team didn’t know each other. They were a friend of one of the other team members. So, it was fun navigating with one another.
Media Party
So, when I went of course it was before the opening. I love media parties because you get to get the exclusive look. What made Beat the Bomb stand out was the fact that they had a better variety of people in attendance. Some of my favorites were in attendance. In addition, they made sure that we didn’t have to come out of pocket for anything but tips. The food and drinks were good, so I didn’t feel the need to go home and eat again. They took diligent care of us. In this industry that is hard to find these days.
To slime, foam, or paintball at Beat the Bomb
This is a choice that I would allow majority on the team to pick. Since I was last there, they picked paintball. Trust me that they have you covered physically while there. I still wouldn’t wear anything that you don’t want to get dirty. There are also lockers on display to use. I loved that part as I locked up my equipment. There is no coat check. So be sure to place items in the locker. The paint ball was fun but sticky. I really enjoyed it all. The next time I want to do the slime and since I am taking the kids I know they will pick that one too.
Pro tips:
• Get there ahead of your reservation especially if you want to eat or drink before
• Stay after your game to enjoy your time
• Wear something that is old and could get messy
• Wear closed toe shoes
• Sign your waiver before you go
