August is here and with that being said, let’s talk about new routines and wellness initiatives as August is Wellness Month. What that means is taking our health and wellness a little more seriously. From what we eat, drink, entertain, and more. So, this month across all socials I will be sharing tips and tricks to take your wellness to another level.
New Month means New Goals
We say this at the beginning of a new month. How many of us are open to receive the newness? It doesn’t matter what was accomplished last month. It is all about starting fresh. Often if I admit its about letting go of the disappointment of failed attempts. This is the number one barrier to why goals go stagnant. It’s like a kid learning to ride a bike for the first time. As soon as that child falls and you attempt to reassure them that they will be okay, the fear of the fall stops them from fulling committing. We adults react to life in the same ways. The fear of being successful because of the many times we failed messes with our confidence. The smartest one in a room knows that failing is apart of the way life works. You can either fail and stay in failure or remind yourself that getting up is failing in style. Eventually you step into the place you were meant to be.
August New Routines
It’s been fun this summer not having to get the kids up early or relaxing more in the evenings. However, when school comes into play there will be uber parents moves, school homework, and still maintaining life I a busy home. Even if you aren’t a parent there be a shift in time. For instance, the roads will be filled with more traffic patterns forcing you to get up earlier to be on time. The number of new routines that will need to be made in the next couple of weeks could feel overwhelming. For instance, something as simple as the gym will be harder. So how do you prepare for a new routine switch?
Routine Switch
Whenever I am preparing for a new routine switch, I do things like add things a little early in before the switch takes place. For instance, at some point I will have the kids start cutting back their sleep time. This means we aren’t waiting until the day before the first day of school to get back to that 8pm bedtime routine. This eliminates the cultural shock of time to enter. Another thing that I do is start prepping things like breakfast earlier. Now I get to eat as the spirit leads me. As soon as the shift happens, I will have to be more mindful of my eating habits and what time I am eating. These are things that I can prepare ahead of time. Things like getting my house back in flow. Instead of doing laundry whenever I can during the summer, I will be back to my Friday schedules. This will ensure that I can wash clothes 1-2 days and not a week turnaround time.
Mental Health Check-Ins
Unless this is your first time reading, I am huge on mental health check in. I will be setting up appointments for my kids with their therapist. This is to ensure whatever concerns they have as they start a new school year; they get the tools that they need. I am also purchasing things like calming strips to add to their back-to-school supplies. These strips help them to rub and feel the texture in case they are experiencing stress or anxiety. These small things help both kids and adults tap and learn how to manage themselves. Another thing I do is set my home on a new peace switch. This means that instead of letting everyone go to bed more energetically we go back to a calmness in the house for one hour prior to bed. Only soft activities that do not require electronics take place. Things like reading, puzzles, and journaling to get the mind a time to wind down.
August is a great time to jumpstart a Fall workout routine too. It may be nice outside but taking care of our health is important. Enjoy the summer food but start to be mindful of how to incorporate items like hearty foods to help with the most efficient food options. So, all in all, I will be sharing so much more in the coming weeks. Thank you for support. Let’s make August a great month.
