Mental Wellness and Self Care Queen

Who would have thought that the Barnes Foundation has some of the best food out?! I surely didn’t. Now that I do know it’s a must visit spot

What is the Barnes Foundation?

The founder Albert C. Barnes had a vision to incorporate education with the arts. Bringing educational programs to the city would allow teachings through the arts for all ages. What I liked about what I learned about Mr. Barnes that he was heavily involved in social justice. He believed that art shouldn’t be segregated so he worked heavily in Black communities. That for me above all meant the world.

The Garden Restaurant

Tucked inside of the Barnes Foundation is a beautifully aesthetic garden restaurant. As soon as I and Cherryl (Phillyfoodgal) entered we were scanned with a infrared temperature gadge. It’s hand free and definitely more accurate. That made me feel super safe! I have to say this again if I ever had a vision of what brunch should look like, The Garden will give you a serene feel. It was a beautiful sunny day, the real life birds were chirping, and the food my goodness let’s get into the food!

Brunch Dreams

I’ve been to many art exhibits as well as museums this is not your typical food. Most times it’s finger foods and snacks. I was blown away by their menu selections. Brunch like brunch should be with a mix of options you can choose to make your brunch experience unique!

Avocado Toast

Now you know that avocado toast is my thing. The only issue with some options is the toast gets super soggy. Not in The Garden. The toast was multigrain and even with taking pics, it was good from first to last bite. The lemon on it took the avocado to the next level. It was the BEST I’ve ever had. I go out of my way to eat as much avocado toast I possibly can so that speaks volumes.

Views

Look at the beautiful scenery! I mean it’s absolutely gorgeous. I had to make sure you saw it!

Chicken, Biscuits, and Gravy

I mean you know Gravy makes or breaks the whole dish! Cherryl had it and she’s a chef and said it was super delicious. I like to see the options that are on menus because my family has so many different palettes when it comes to the things they like.

Skipping Breakfast

I know a lot of people that no matter how important breakfast is they do no or will eat breakfast items. There are options like soups, salads, paninis, etc. that you can enjoy. They also have the Barnes Burger!

Served with a side of their signature sauce it’s actually quite good.

Drinks Please

Yes what’s a brunch without drinks? The Barnes Foundation has a full on bar. I was quite impressed. They have your Bloody Mary and Mimosa too. Both selections are always brunch favorites. Oh and if you’re thinking that the mimosa was weak, that’s a lie. That mimosa was just like I like it, with a hint of orange juice.

All the Feels

Let me tell you above having a beautiful scenery and great food is how you’re treated! The staff went above and beyond to treat us well. I mean you select what you like, they bring it out, and they make you feel amazing. I left with the feeling that brunch was had and not just eaten.

Dessert Please

Outside of the chocolate croissant I had, the pumpkin spice cupcake was absolutely too good not to share. Listen they have many options for dessert. There’s always room for dessert!

Thank you to Cherryl and The Barnes Foundation. From our entrance to our exit, it was all love.

The Barnes Foundation is located at 2025 Benjamin Franklin Parkway! There’s plenty of parking near and around.

Tickets for the exhibits are $25 for adults, seniors $23, 12 and under free, college students with valid ID $5, youth 13-18 $5, Philly teachers free on Sundays, and those who have EBT/Access cards free. So no reason not to get out and enjoy! Brunch and all other meals are pay as you go!
