As we continue in tackling our physical bodies we shouldn’t’ leave out our mental fitness and wellness. What we think always competes with what we do. If your mind isn’t ready to take on the things that you have on your heart-it can be the biggest distractions. Here are 5 ways we can get mentally fit.
Mind Dump for Mental Fitness
If you have never heard of a mind dump it is the ability to take the thoughts that are rolling in your head and writing them out. This means the thoughts no matter if they are good or bad need to be written down. Do not dwell on sorting them out. Simply write. Once you have done writing see where you are. Do you feel better? Are there more thoughts that have come to mind? Write them down. The purpose of the mind dump is to exercise the part of your mind that is overwhelmed. An overworked mindset isn’t profitable for your being. Get into the habit of utilizing a mind dump often.
Organizing with Wellness
You have used the first tool of a mind dump and now it’s time to organize those goals. What are you working on? It doesn’t matter what the goal you need to organize your thoughts and action plan. For example, if losing weight physically is a goal-let’s organize your thoughts. What are the hindrances that come along with physical weight loss? Things like not having the right clothes, money for the gym, lack of time, or wanting someone to be your accountability partner could be in your thought process. Now we take our tool of mind dumping to write out what we think, we organize what it will take to get there. So for clothing, we go to places like Five Below, Thrift shops, or other discount clothing stores to get a few pieces that we need.
Lack of time we take and dedicate about an hour after dinner to work out using YouTube, or other free applications. Instead of saying we have a lack of time, we build in the time that we need. If an accountability partner is what you desire, we learn to either outsource to a friend that is far or nearby. Join workout groups on Facebook or in person too.
Mind over the Can’ts
The biggest hindrances after we organize and do a mind dump will be the long lists of can’ts. For instance in 2001 I was in a head on collision with a tractor trailer. Even though I wasn’t the driver I dislocated my left shoulder. There are always a list of things I shouldn’t do with that arm. So instead of my lists of I can’ts I learn to modify. If you are attending a work out class that is physically stressing your body, talk to the instructor and let them know you limitations. Now, it’s not that you can’t-you can with modifications. Same with a home workout. Modify but deny yourself the ability to take control of your health or well being.
Minding our Business
Now we all know that we should stay in our lane. This is a reminder that our business of getting healthier from the inside out is important. Take the inclusivity that you feel for others and turn that around for you. This means instead of consuming idle things that do not help you, take that extra energy into what you need. When was the last time you been to the doctors to get a checkup. Life doesn’t work like unopened mail. Eventually your body will let you know something isn’t right. Take charge now. If you are allowing your thoughts and mindset to tell you that you aren’t worthy. Reminding yourself that you are uniquely made. You not walking in the promise of self care and healing means you aren’t allowing yourself to live to your highest potential.
What’s on your Mind?
Lastly we have the power to change our mindset as any given time. So what are you entertaining yourself with matters. Cut out some of the distractions you built. Remember that you are powerful. If you don’t align with the right people, places, and things the person to blame is you. Don’t take that as a rebuke but as a charge to be more present in your active lifestyle. Be present in making sure that your home has what it needs to get you to the right place. Losing weight doesn’t just happen. Declutter your home, remove the things you do not need, and be an active participant in what you are willing to do to be the solid woman you are.
There are more than these 5 tools to use. Use these 5 now and start the healing journey. Do not get frustrated to the point of stopping if you find that you fall backwards. Trust me your bad isn’t your worse. Dust yourself and get back up. You are worthy of the life you seek.
