If you been following the blog and specifically on Facebook you know I’m not calling New Year goals Resolutions but Solutions. We need to find answers and ways to make things happen for 2021 instead of just a list of hope as we walk into the New Year!
Start With The Why
Why do you want your goal? As simple as it may sound we tend to forget the why. We want the end result but does it align with your purpose? If I want to write a book what is my why? That alone will help me map out the path in which it will take to make it happen. It’s not enough to write the goal. You have to understand the why. The why shifts the focus and gives the plan more validity. The why sustains you even when you fail gracefully trying to make it happen. The graceful fall could be in the steps that is being taken to accomplish the goal. I’ve had a few missteps but I also know as long as I don’t stop end refocus I can get on the good foot.
Focus
We will never get anything done without focus. It’s the way in which we shut negativity out. Remember when I first started the blog I was told it was too conversational and no one would read it. Had I listened I would have missed a great deal of readers. I would have killed the dream of writing the blog and soon the book. Focus keeps you balanced with your why. It helps you when you’re up at night getting things done while the rest of the house sleeps. It helps when you’re running your dream like a business and everyone around you is having their fun while you’re in the building stages.
What’s The Plan
In my earlier vision board I would have a bunch of pictures on my board. They represented so many of the areas I wanted to see growth. However as pretty as the vision board was it lacked a plan. This is why I almost gave up on the vision boards altogether. I quickly learned it’s not magic. It’s focusing yourself to do the necessary work. So now I do the pretty vision board on the front but on the back I write the steps to make it happen. So what is your plan? How do you plan to work the plan? Hard work will bring you what prior experience can’t solidify. If you’re willing to work hard you can do anything!
Passions and Gifts
You can be passionate about something and confuse that with gifts. You can also have a gift for something and lack the passion to see it through. If you’re a great writer but lack the passion to sit daily and write, you won’t pursue it. Have you considered using the same gift in another way? As a writer you could mentor other writers. It’s within the same realm but taking your gift and flipping it. If 2020 has taught us one thing is that there are a million ways to get the job done. You could develop an E-Course for writers. This not only uses your gifts but allows you to find the passions using them in different ways. It also can help you make residual income.
Truth be told 2021 is going to open up opportunities for those who are seeking it actively and aren’t afraid of pursuing their passions. It’s going to take hard work, being okay with a few NOs, and stepping out of the comfort zone. Is it you? What’s been in your heart even after years of not pursuing the dream still calls? It’s those goals that are inside of you that needs your attention. It hasn’t died because it wants to grow! Let the dream grow with intention and a plan! You got this!
